JEEP PLANNING A NAME CHANGE FOR THE GRAND CHEROKEE SRT8?

Although this news isn’t yet official, it’s a rumor that sounds fairly realistic. First off, the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is safe and won’t be discontinued. However, word is coming in claiming that a name change is in order.Basically, Chrysler wants the SRT name to be associated solely with its Dodge brand. At the same time, Allpar.com claims that Chrysler has just trademarked the name "Trackhawk," which sounds more in line with the “Trail Rated” Trailhawk models.Bottom line: don’t be shocked to hear about the Grand Cherokee SRT8 becoming the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. Fine. We really don’t care, just as long as that 6.4-liter Hemi V8 remains. With that in mind, does this also mean the Chrysler 300 SRT8 will be given a rebranding, or dropped altogether? It doesn’t sell particularly well, and earlier this summer we reported on its likely demise, in the US at least. We’re still waiting for official confirmation regarding everything you just read from Chrysler.
