HOLY CRAP, THE FERRARI 458 SPECIALE A IS GORGEOUS

The 458 Speciale A is the last Ferrari to be unveiled by longtime company boss Luca di Montezemolo. After 23 years at the helm, he will step down later this month. So was there anything unique about the 458 Speciale A’s official live unveiling? Not so much. Di Montezemolo simply pulled the sheet covering off Ferrari’s most aerodynamically efficient drop top ever. Like its coupe counterpart, the 458 Speciale A is powered by a naturally aspirated 4.5-liter V8 producing 597 horsepower. 0-62 mph happens in only 3 secs, 0-124 mph in 9.5 seconds.

That aluminum roof deploys and retracts in just 14 seconds. What’s more, Ferrari managed to only allow a 110-lbs weight gain over the coupe. This is also likely the last hurrah for the NA V8 in a mid-engined Ferrari. A heavily refreshed 458 will debut next year with a twin-turbo V8.
