THE DODGE CHALLENGER SRT HELLCAT WILL PISS OFF TREE HUGGERS

A Toyota Prius competitor the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is not. Screw the Prius. We’re talking about American muscle here. Chrysler has just released the official EPA rated figures for the new Challenger SRT Hellcat and let’s just say no-one should be all that surprised.However, it’s really not that bad. Paired to the eight-speed automatic transmission, the Challenger SRT Hellcat will return 13/22 mpg city/highway. Opt for the six-speed manual and the highway number drops by just one mpg.  

That 707 horsepower, 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat Hemi V8 is still a work of absolute awesomeness. To remind you of this and the fact it’s actually quite fuel efficient given its total output, Chrysler is comparing it to competitors with similar horsepower numbers. For example, the Lamborghini Aventador Roadster has 700-hp and returns 18 mpg highway. Likewise, the 576-hp Aston Martin Vanquish. The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG has 583-hp and returns 19 mpg highway. Consider this: the Challenger SRT Hellcat bases for just under $60k and it’s still more powerful and fuel efficient than those very expensive high-performance exotics. That's mighty impressive.
